IUC

Intergalactic Utilities Commission

The Intergalactic Utilities Commission (IUC) was established in 2012 to enable the pervasive use of the main Galaxy ToolShed by ensuring the repositories available in the tool shed include contents that are functionally correct and optimized for installation into local Galaxies. When appropriate, guidance is provided to repository owners so that they can understand what changes are necessary for their repository to be approved.

The features described in the reviewing process enable tool shed repositories to ultimately be flagged as "Approved" by the IUC. If a repository is "IUC Approved", then those installing the repository should have a certain level of comfort that it's contents are functionally correct in all appropriate areas.

IUC also maintains a set of Galaxy tools in the following GitHub repository https://github.com/galaxyproject/tools-iuc

IUC membership can evolve over time. The initial members were all owners of one or more repositories in the main Galaxy tool shed or are members of the core Galaxy development team, so they may be familiar to you.
